Question: Why would someone take a testosterone booster? I am 22 and several of my friends take them.
Answer: At your age your body is already producing massive amounts of testosterone, more than enough for amazing muscle gains, as long as, intense training, healthy nutrition, rest and proper hydration occur. Adding a supplement to boost testosterone production only interferes with all the natural processes that occur at a young age. The youthful, misguided intentions to assist nature with pharmaceuticals more often than not, interferes with an already potent muscle building process. The testosterone boosters are targeted towards older groups. As males age, testosterone productions decreases beginning it’s natural descent in the early to mid-30’s. However, even this is not written in stone. If you’re a hard training guy and you apply the extra effort of eating healthier, keeping your body fat below average and get good sleep, then the descending curve gets pushed further back and does not drop as sharply. Another group targeted by the marketing, though the producers wouldn’t openly admit it, is those individuals who already use steroids. If the individual does use and does cycle (rotate on and off the drugs) then during the periods they are not on steroids those guys usually need a testosterone booster to help push natural production up because their performer enhancers have all but shut down their natural hormone production. The bottom line, testosterone enhancers at a young age may cause you to actually need to use them later in your life. They are best left alone. Intensity in the gym, healthy at the table and deep restful sleep will produce long lasting muscle gains.
God bless and keep training,
