Combine Good Nutrition with a Sound Exercise Program

Share

Question: What is more effective, to eat a clean, healthy diet or to train consistently? I do get in my workouts but don’t always eat the best.
Answer: For a while your youth and training intensity may make the difference and allow you to eat random foods instead of planning meals but, in time, that practice will erode your progress. A healthy eating plan can allow you to lose fat and build muscle more effectively.
If you are dieting, or planning to start one as a New Year’s resolution, an exercise program is a necessity if you want to continue to lose weight consistently for more than a few weeks. Once you restrict calories your metabolism will drift south and slow down a bit. To continue to lose weight without exercising you may have to keep reducing calories. The smart alternative is to add exercise to tone or build some muscle. Muscles require energy so restricting calories tends to require your body to burn off stored fat to fulfill those energy needs.
It’s a win-win situation if you combine good nutrition with a sound exercise program. You’ll feel more energized, be healthier and look great.
God bless and keep training,
Daryl
