Back to School – Back to Working Out

Question: I need desperately to get into the gym to lose weight. Next week both of my kids will be in school which will give me time to workout. It’s been years and my body shows it. Should I hire a trainer, get a workout partner, or go it alone?
Answer: The odds are more in your favor for a successful get-in-shape campaign if you hire a trainer or find a workout partner. If you have someone to train with here are a few things to remember. Find someone who has similar goals as yours that way your training routines will be similar. You and your training partner should have compatible scheduling needs so neither of you has to make too many adjustments. Avoid too much conversation while you workout and set a time limit to your workouts. If the two of you get too busy conversing your training suffers.
If you search for a trainer find one who can accommodate your schedule and training needs. A trainer can set up your workouts and be someone to hold you accountable. Look for someone established and certified by some organization other than the facility where they work. If you decide to train alone, schedule the time in your day and hold to it. Find a routine in a fitness magazine or from the Internet and stick to it. You will need to be self-disciplined but if you are then you can be successful in your quest to get in shape.
God bless and keep training,
Daryl
