Choose to do More and You Will!

Question: I have hit a plateau in my weight loss. I am doing cardio in the morning, working out two days a week with weights and have been good about eating healthy. I would like to train harder but have not yet reached the point where I feel like my body will do more. Any suggestions to get my weight loss back on track?
Answer: Start with your food because often we make the mistake of thinking we can get away will little slips to satisfy cravings or feel we are due for a reward for making the changes to our bodies that we have so far. Both are bad assumptions to make and can cost you the changes you already have made. You reshaped your body to this point because your were willing to forgo the immediate gratification of some treat in order to achieve a greater goal. Get your food back on track by writing down anything you consume for a week. It’s usually an eye-opener.
Make sure your cardio and workouts are challenging, especially your cardio in the morning. Its a great time to burn calories and excite your metabolism for the remainder of the day with an intense workout. Sure, it’s tough but remaining the same is tougher.
To address your statement about feeling like you are capable of doing more, unfortunately, changing your lifestyle is not about feelings or immediate gratification, it’s about self-discipline and long-term results. The number of people who actually feel like training harder and challenging themselves is small, and would be zero if we were to wait until our bodies told us when they were ready to do more. Our bodies do only what our mind, or willpower, demands, nothing more. You have to make a conscious choice to increase the incline, go faster or add weight and then, only then will your body actually perform. If you think you can, or think you cannot, you are right either way. Choose to do more and you will.
God bless and keep training,
Daryl
